“I think the only advice I can give you on how to live your life well is first off remember … it is not the things we do in life that we regret on our death bed. It is the things we do not. Find your passion and follow it,” Pausch said, “and if there is anything I have learned in my life, you will not find that passion in things. And you will not find that passion in money. Because the more things and the more money you have, the more you will just look around and use that as the metric – and there will always be someone with more. Your passion must come from the things that fuel you from the inside. That passion will be grounded in people. It will be grounded in the relationships you have with people and what they think of you when your time comes.
… “I waited till 39 to get married because I had to wait that long to find someone whose happiness was more important than mine. And if nothing else I hope that all of you can find that kind of passion and that kind of love in your life.”

我做書倒很少考慮凸顯書脊厚度的事情。書主要是正面時期（新書時期）的銷量大，書脊時期（上架時期）不容易期待。
不期待「書脊時期」的借閱率根本就是將寶貴的資源埋沒了。

數星期前在大學圖書館的一本書 (有關本田宗一郎的) 的書頁中發現很新淨的一張 20 元紙幣，懶好心的交給了櫃台職員，她什麼都沒有問，我便將想講給他的資料呑回去。不料第二天竟收到圖書館來電，問我是否物主。問題出在哪？當然是職員沒即時問清楚來龍去脈啦。以後還是別多事，讓它繼續存留在書中，作為本書的經歷記錄好了，橫豎能物歸原主的機會微乎其微。
順便說句，圖書館的書有部分的狀態很令人嘔心，見到昆蟲屍體或是一片片污漬真是會令人頓時喪失借閱/翻閱的意欲。摺頁和間書也很礙眼，須知道圖書館的功能不只是教育、消閒和宣揚文化，還有保存人類資源財產呢，望讀者好好愛惜圖書館資源和其他讀者的感受。

As much as those of us in the book business might like to think otherwise, a LOT of high school English teachers are still tied to the mind-set that YA books are not true “literature.”
The teachers who have this mind-set rarely use YA literature in their classroom teaching except in cases where they are working with students who are “reluctant” readers or students reading below grade level.
But it’s summer! Summer reading is supposed to be fun, right? Shouldn’t that negate the whole “are these books literature?” debate? That depends on whom you ask. Many teachers and librarians have been moving toward the notion that summer reading should, above all else, be designed to keep kids reading (Period.) and that it should therefore be less about educational value than about sheer pleasure. But others believe the intent of summer reading is to keep kids in “learning mode” or keep them “working” throughout the summer, so that the transition back to the work of the school year comes as less of a shock.
The best summer reading lists, I believe, should include a solid mix of books published for young adult readers and books published for adults, with an emphasis on ENJOYING reading.
有指學校的暑假閱讀書單太悶，沒有列入適合青少年讀物。換轉是香港，即是要讀的全是魯迅、巴金等的作品，而沒有君比、天航等，他們不會 “marked that book for the “miss list” 就奇了。

修心養性、強身健體的「運動」 =/= 求勝利的「體育運動」。 後者是競爭，是戰爭，沒人會帶「善良之槍」去的…
所以說運動比賽是戰爭的代替品，是各界 (勉強地) 為了和平，但又想宣示威勢，順便讓有爭鬥心的人發洩而生出來的形式制度 (別忘了還有商界在背後利用為賺錢工具)。
純求鍛鍊身心的，可靠自我修行達成的會比較適合…
