先進科技沒有提升產品的耐用度，反而退步了。或者說就算產品很耐用，消費者卻貪新忘舊，頻頻換款 (手提電話就是個好例子)，那也沒用。
師父有沒有過分誇張都好，因為已經足以證明四年前搬新居時，我取傳統平面顯像管 (舊式的映像管) 電視機捨等離子 (電漿 / Plasma) 或液晶 (LCD) 電視的決定是正確的，沒有白費資料搜集和分析的一番功夫。
當時的三大決定因素是耗電量 (~200 vs. over 300W)、耐用度 (over 5 yrs，但逐漸會有暗角 vs. 普通的 under 和保養/維修問題) 和售價 (HK$7k vs. 40k)。
還有就是有吸取到明知技術未成熟又昂貴，但都因一時慾望而買左缺陷多多的數碼相機的慘痛教訓 (用相同價錢在今天可買到不錯的 DSLR，而非 prosumer 的半傻機)。
